Selected Work

Businesses built, markets created, organisations led.

A selection of the initiatives that define my career — each one a case of taking an Employee Benefits, healthcare or welfare ambition and making it operational, commercial and durable.

01

Howden Italia

2022 — Present

Building a national Employee Benefits business from inception

The Challenge

Howden had strong general insurance presence in Italy but no Employee Benefits business line. The opportunity required creating a credible, full-spectrum EB proposition in a market already served by entrenched global competitors.

My Approach

  • Defined the strategic, commercial and operational foundations of the EB business line from a blank page.
  • Led M&A and integration initiatives, bringing acquired capabilities into one coherent service model.
  • Assembled a diversified offering across brokerage, claims administration, hospital network development, flexible benefits, retirement consulting and telemedicine.
  • Mobilised long-standing relationships with insurers, global brokers and providers to accelerate market entry.

The Results

  • A complete Employee Benefits and Well-being platform established and expanding in Italy.
  • Insurance brokerage, advisory, healthcare, retirement and digital well-being delivered under a single proposition.
  • Materially strengthened Howden's corporate client capability in the Italian market.

02

Generali Welion

2021 — 2022

Leading a 400-person health services organisation

The Challenge

Welion combines healthcare operations and employee benefits distribution at national scale — claims, hospital networks, telemedicine and mass health campaigns — requiring both operational rigour and commercial growth.

My Approach

  • Directed the Health Care Services business across claims administration, hospital network development, flexible benefits and telemedicine.
  • Led employee benefits sales for Generali Italia across both broker and direct client channels.
  • Coordinated service providers and hospital networks to raise access, quality and employee engagement.
  • Set strategic direction for an organisation of 400+ colleagues and strengthened its leadership bench.

The Results

  • Integrated healthcare solutions delivered nationally, including large-scale influenza vaccination campaigns.
  • Strengthened distribution partnerships supporting growth in corporate health and benefits.
  • A more collaborative, capable leadership layer across a complex health and EB environment.

Willis Towers Watson

2012 — 2021

Pioneering Flexible Benefits in Italy and scaling a national practice

The Challenge

In 2012 flexible benefits were effectively absent from the Italian corporate market. Employers lacked both the regulatory confidence and the delivery infrastructure to offer employees genuine choice.

My Approach

  • Created and championed the Flexible Benefits offering, educating the market and proving the tax and engagement case.
  • Led the national Employee Benefits business across traditional and flexible solutions, managing portfolio performance and sustainable growth.
  • Built partnerships with industry associations, providers and institutions to support integrated delivery.
  • Grew and developed a team of more than 120 professionals with a deliberate focus on young talent.

The Results

  • Helped establish flexible benefits as a mainstream category in Italy.
  • Nine years of sustained growth in a high-performing national Health & Benefits practice.
  • A generation of consultants developed, many now leading elsewhere in the market.

04

AIG Vita S.p.A.

2002 — 2008

Launching the Milan branch and three business lines

The Challenge

AIG's Group Management Division needed a Milan presence and a commercial engine capable of serving Employee Benefits, Creditor Insurance and Direct Marketing simultaneously.

My Approach

  • Established the Milan branch office and its technical and marketing foundations.
  • Built a diversified network of reinsurers, brokers, banks and corporate clients to enable market entry.
  • Aligned product development, distribution partnerships and marketing into one growth plan.

The Results

  • Three core business lines developed and supported from a new office.
  • A durable partner network across banking and broker distribution channels.
  • Commercial and operational foundations for sustained multi-channel growth.

05

Mercer (MMC Group)

2008 — 2010

Multinational benefits consulting and the first flexible benefits build

The Challenge

Multinational clients needed consistency and cost efficiency across fragmented country-level benefit programmes, within Italy's specific fiscal and collective bargaining framework.

My Approach

  • Audited, designed and implemented corporate medical, accident, life and disability programmes, plus expatriate retirement and risk solutions.
  • Advised on fiscal legislation, collective labour agreements and market practice.
  • Managed cross-border coordination, expatriate coverage and multinational pooling arrangements.
  • Delivered a flexible benefits initiative covering feasibility, tax analysis, IT platform and go-to-market strategy.

The Results

  • Greater programme consistency and cost efficiency for multinational employers.
  • Compliant, competitive benefit structures aligned to workforce needs.
  • A repeatable flexible benefits model that anticipated the market by several years.

06

Europ Assistance Trade

2000 — 2001

District growth across companies and broker channels

The Challenge

The assigned district needed stronger penetration among corporate clients and broker partners in a competitive assistance and protection market.

My Approach

  • Managed the Companies and Brokers business line across the district.
  • Deepened relationships with corporate clients and broker partners to expand the portfolio.
  • Oversaw commercial performance and business development activity end to end.

The Results

  • Approximately 10–15% annual growth in key partner accounts.
  • Improved market penetration and service delivery across the district.
